Effective Communication

Communication is essential in any organization and the military is no exception, as a matter of fact while in the service we must exemplify it more than any other. Not only is it important to be made aware as much as possible about the adversary but even more so about the state and mindset of your own. Through physical training and working together in large teams. I.e. Squads, Platoons, Company/Battery, Battalions etc. etc…We all have an understanding of process built in from the beginning, an understanding that in order to be successful everything has a sequence of events. While in the service many of us crudely often refer to this as “hurry up and wait”. While initially a frustrating and boring aspect of training it has value from the very beginning teaching us that we all have our part but not one of us is the only part, and you have to always be prepared for yours.

As this sense of teamwork is developed we learn to rely on one another and are taught repeatedly that it does not matter what color, race, background, and religion the man or woman to your left or to your right is, we are united by one creed. This collective purpose based on “together we swim or individually we sink” can be experienced in many companies, however seldom to the same degree and with the same dedication that is trained into every Soldier, Marine, Airman, Sailor, and Guard.  None of which would be possible without constant and consistent communication.

This is an aspect of military life that is so fundamental we hardly notice it until we transition out of the service to realize its absence and its deafening silence. The only effective knowledge is applied knowledge, in the same respect that only effective communication is within a strong and established network. No one company, no one person has the capability to provide every service necessary for a prosperous life or viable organization.

That is why our call to action is about connecting, and communicating. Here at OVP we are all individually volunteering our own talents and resources as wisely as possible. Our training has made us adaptable; as such we are all absorbing as many skills sets and tools vital to completing our mission. In turn we shall be able to hire veterans into our renewable energy program and construction trades skill training program in management and supervisory roles. What we offer in return for the simple act of communicating our message on behalf of our Veterans is the potential of initially underwriting, and if necessary, follow-on support funding of fellow Veterans Outreach Initiatives. The sole purpose; reach as many veterans as possible.
